Float All In Windows, Slakthusateljéerna, Stockholm, 18th May 2011
Group exhibition with the members of Slakthusateljéerna in Stockholm, 18-22 May 2011.
Float All In Windows is the first collective and public presentation of work of the artists and cultural producers who have their studios at Slakthusateljéerna. Since a year back the studio association and project space are situated in the housing block Charkuteristen 5 in Slakthusområdet, in a building from 1955 designed by Ralph Erskine and Yngve Fredriksson for the grocery importers Möller & Co. Nearly hundred years after the area’s inauguration, its original function is out-of-date and the transformation into something new has started. Cultural activities such as Slakthusateljéerna can temporarily take place in the old office- and warehouse facilities until the city’s zooning plan is being implemented and extensive renovations have begun. Float All In Windows draws its title from the command in Photoshop which assigns all open documents a separate display window. Similarly, twenty-six artists occupy the empty spaces on the floor above the studios and project space, during the exhibition period.
