12/12 2014: ”Everyday Archives” short film of the day, SFI
On Friday 12th December Malin Pettersson Öberg’s film Everyday Archives II (Flyers 1998 – 2008) is presented as part of the short film calendar of the Swedish Film Institute. Camilla Larsson, curator and writer working at Bonniers Konsthall in Stockholm, has selected the film for the project which celebrate short films each day during the year’s darkest month. Short Film Day – Kortfilmsdagen – is an initiative by the Swedish Film Institute aiming to highlight the short film.
”Malin Pettersson Öberg’s film Everyday Archives II (Flyers 1998 – 2008) brings us on a visual journey through a found material. Flyers from night clubs, art exhibitions and shops are the construction parts in her associative essay film. The technique reminds us of older times’ display situations, where a gloved hand objectively handles the slide show. In the film, the relationship between the author, image and viewer are untied and important questions of knowledge, memory and forgetfulness are posed in relation to our own time.” /Camilla Larsson
